About Us
Save the FoodBasket, Inc. was created in 1996 for the purpose of providing nutritious food, basic essentials and support to people living with HIV/AIDS. For over ten years, a small group of, thoughtful, committed people have given their time, energy and hearts in the hope that fewer of our community will go hungry or suffer malnutrition.
Bill's Place our store front, began in February 2001. Through the use of volunteer energy, The FoodBasket has been able to maximize its services by earmarking most of its funds toward the purchase of food for our clients.
The FoodBasket remains a small grassroots organization that is client centered, serving over 400 people living with HIV/AIDS right here on Oahu, on a monthly basis. We provide fresh fish, meat, poultry, milk, eggs, vegetables and fruits as well as breads, rice, pastas, cereals, and canned goods, along with a nutritious lunch and much needed support and aloha.
In this space, we would like to especially thank our former Executive Director, lawyer John Manion for coming on board to help "save The FoodBasket". His many years of work and devotion have made this organization’s existence and expansion of services possible today. Much Mahalo to him and the many others who have strived to meet the needs of our HIV/AIDS community. Through their compassionate acts, they truly have made life a little happier and healthier for people living with HIV/AIDS.
